Winter Skincare

If you’re anywhere near Northeast Ohio then I’m sure you’ve been smacked in the face with winter. And if your skin is anything like mine, the winter months completely dry me out. My face is dry, flakey and feels raw and dull. AKA it needs extra moisture and some deep exfoliating. On top of my regular visits to The Wellhouse (the best med spa in CLE), I also need some at home moisture maintenance. Typically in winter I add a heavy serum as well as moisturizer. I also make sure to regularly use sheet masks which help lock in moisture. Here are the products that I’ve been using to prevent reptile skin.

I’ve been using two different cleansers. I use ZO gentle cleanser both day and night and it does a great job of removing makeup and cleansing. It’s soft and never leaves my skin feeling tight or dry. I use ZO Exfoliating Polish in the morning on days I intend on wearing makeup. It exfoliates and helps to remove dead skin, allowing my makeup to go on perfectly. In the morning I use this Vitamin C serum by DERMA E. I like it because it’s a little bit thicker and helps with dryness. I lock it in with my all time favorite OG moisturizer, SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid Restore Cream. I’ve also been using this eye cream by DERMA E because it helps brighten and conceal under eye circles.

At night I use Face Halo makeup remover pads to remove all makeup before cleansing. Nighttime calls for a heavier serum and this one by DERMA E is my favorite right now! I’m almost ready for a new bottle. It smells amazing and does THE job when it comes to moisturizing. I follow it up with the same SkinCeuticals moisturizer and then with an eye cream by SkinCeuticals.

Once or twice a week I like to guasha in the morning to really help my skin absorb the serums. It is great for lymphatic drainage and helps slim out the face.

My face unfortunately isn’t the only thing that gets dry - my lips are instantly chapped if I’m not constantly applying moisture to them. I just use good ol’ Aquaphor for daily moisture and a lip mask at night before bed.

All of the SkinCeuticals and ZO Skincare products I get from The Wellhouse in Tremont, but if you aren’t local you can find them online or at a certified spa nearby.

Hope these products help beat the dull winter skin we’re all dealing with. Let me know if you have any ride or die products that you can’t live without! I also should’ve mentioned that in order to keep your skin and body hydrated, please DRINK WATER. LOTS OF WATER.
